Second week

Today we said goodbye to the week 1 people who are headed back home to the states.  7 of us first week missioners carry over to the second week.  We met the second week crew at the airport, and headed to lunch before making the long drive to Danli.  There are 23 of us total for the second week, but two missed their connection and will be joining us tomorrow.  One of our nurse practitioners unfortunately is sick and was unable to make the trip  - we wish her speedy recovery and will keep her in our prayers.

The drive up to Danli is about 1 1/2 hours to 2 depending on traffic - on not so smooth roads!  But we made it hear, a little later than usual, safe and sound.  Our dinner was prepared by the wonderful cook Carlos.  We eat all of our meals in the Danli Church, and stay in a hotel for this part of the trip.

Tomorrow we have an early day, and a long drive up the dirt road to Escuapa.  It's about 1 1/2 hours to Escuapa - a very rural town.  We will attend the local church service, and then begin to set up all of our equipment and supplies for the next day.

This week, we have a VBS mission, Optical mission, Sewing mission and medical mission.

Last year my family and I decided to sponsor a child from the BECAS program - its a sponsorship program here in Honduras to support children attending school.  I found out the child we were assigned is from Escuapa - so my prayer is that he will be there this week so I can spend time getting to know him.

That's all for now - short blog but not too much to report today.

Blessings

Shelley
